Mock Draft 2.0

Mock Draft 2.0

Hey, what’s up everyone! My second mock of draft season is below. Every mock I do is based on what I think is going to happen rather than what should happen. I won’t account for any trades until my last mock draft so keep that in mind. As always, give your thoughts and if you need any clarity, ask me in chat.

  1. Chicago Bears (from CAR) – Caleb Williams (QB – USC)
The reports that the Bears haven’t decided on Caleb are hogwash and have no substance. They have no market for Justin Fields who I expect to take a mulligan year and learn as a backup somewhere. Caleb will be the 1st overall pick.
  2. Washington Commanders – Jayden Daniels (QB – LSU)
I’m still torn a bit here with Jayden Daniels and JJ McCarthy but for this exercise I’m going with Daniels to the Commanders. I don’t think the signing of Marcus Mariota tips their hand one way or the other.
  3. New England Patriots – JJ McCarthy (QB – Michigan)
I don’t put trades in these mock drafts but I fully expect the Patriots to move out of this spot and collect draft capital. I envision the Vikings outbidding the Giants to move up to three and take their next franchise QB now that Kirk Cousins is in Atlanta.
  4. Arizona Cardinals – Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR – Ohio State)
This is the surest thing in the draft outside of Caleb Williams going first overall to the Bears. There still exists a slim chance they go with Malik Nabers but from everything I’ve gathered, Marvin Harrison Jr. is the top rated player overall on the Cardinals board.
  5. LA Chargers – Taliese Fuaga (OT – Oregon State)
The Chargers will try desperately to move back here and would much prefer to collect picks and still take Offensive Line in the early teens but without many buyers, they end up taking Fuaga. I like the fit with Fuaga being a setter and can be moved inside to Offensive Guard if need be.
  6. New York Giants – Drake Maye (QB – North Carolina)
Some will view this as a drop for Drake Maye but I don’t think this is unrealistic. The media has been high on Maye for months now and that’s why he has stuck up as the QB2 on most boards. His film is great but his best path to long term success is sitting his rookie year and he can do that with Daniel Jones 100% being on the roster in 2024.
  7. Tennessee Titans – Joe Alt (OT – Notre Dame)
With the Titans nailing down their WR room through free agency, I think we can pencil in the Offensive Line here. With Joe Alt coming off the board here, the Titans can plug him right in at LT and have the makings of revamping this Offensive Line.
  8. Atlanta Falcons – Dallas Turner (Edge – Alabama)
Look for the Falcons to try and trade back here. I can see a team like the Jaguars wanting to move up and take one of the WRs available or even the Colts. If they are unsuccessful, the Falcons stay put and take the first defensive player off the board. I debated Quinyon Mitchell (CB) here but decided on Edge Rusher in Turner for the Raheem Morris defense.
  9. Chicago Bears – Malik Nabers (WR – LSU)
At this point, I think the Bears love Turner as well as this set of WRs. With Nabers falling into their lap and Turner off the board, they run to the podium and select the uber talented WR to pair with their new rookie QB.
  10. New York Jets – JC Latham (OT – Alabama)
The Jets have added some help at Tackle through the off-season and Latham fits this team best with the Offensive Tackles left on the board. They can plug and play him at Left Tackle.
  11. Minnesota Vikings –  Quinyon Mitchell (CB – Toledo)
  12. Denver Broncos – Jared Verse (Edge – Florida State)
  13. Las Vegas Raiders – Terrion Arnold (CB – Alabama)
  14. New Orleans Saints – Brock Bowers (TE – Georgia)
  15. Indianapolis Colts – Rome Odunze (WR – Washington)
  16. Seattle Seahawks – Byron Murphy II (DT – Texas)
  17. Jacksonville Jaguars – Brian Thomas Jr. (WR – LSU)
  18. Cincinnati Bengals – Olumuyiwa Fashanu (OT – Penn State)
  19. Los Angeles Rams – Laiatu Latu (Edge – Iowa
  20. Pittsburgh Steelers – Troy Fautanu (OT – Washington)
  21. Miami Dolphins – Jer’Zhan Newton (DT – Illinois)
  22. Philadelphia Eagles – Chop Robinson (Edge – Penn State)
  23. Houston Texans (from CLE) – Cooper DeJean (CB – Iowa)
  24. Dallas Cowboys – Amarius Mims (OT – Georgia)
  25. Green Bay Packers – Kool-Aid McKinstry (CB – Alabama)
  26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Nate Wiggins (CB  -Clemson)
  27. Arizona Cardinals (from HOU) – Graham Barton (OG – Duke)
  28. Buffalo Bills – Adonai Mitchell (WR – Texas)
  29. Detroit Lions – Darius Robinson (Edge – Missouri)
  30. Baltimore Ravens – Tyler Guyton (OT – Oklahoma)
  31. San Francisco 49ers – Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (CB – Missouri)
  32. Kansas City Chiefs – Xavier Worth (WR – Texas)
