Monday Pregame Betting Breakdown
We have four games on tap tonight starting at 7pm. We had a great day yesterday profiting eight units. The first game of the night is a 2019 Stanley Cup Final rematch followed by a divisional rivalry matchup between the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers. We have important playoff races with multiple teams needing wins. Lets dive into each game and see where we’ll land!

St. Louis Blues vs. Boston Bruins
7:08pm EST

St. Louis comes in losing three in a row and six of their last eight. Boston has won the last four matchups and both teams are heading in different directions in the standings. I personally will be staying off this matchup but you should look for a close game. Jeremy Swayman may get the start and if he does I see some value in the Blues lines. Rarely will you see a team total being offered at two but the Blues come in at -160 and three at +180. Jeremy Swayman has faced the Blues three times in his career giving up at least two in all three starts. The reason why the line is so low on the Blues is due to them scoring two or less goals in seven of their last eight games. I expect a better offensive output tonight from the Blue with the trade deadline in the rear view window for a few of the Blues big names. This game and matchup will all depend on who is in net for Boston. If Linus Ullmark gets the start for the Bruins then I will be laying off this game with a higher expectation of the Bruins winning in a lower scoring game. If Swayman is in net I expect this game to be played more back and forth with a higher probability of St. Louis winning outright. Jordan Binnington is 5-5-2 against the Bruins in his career with a 2.67 GAA, winning a Stanley Cup as a rookie against them, but has given up three or more in his last three starts.

New Jersey Devils vs. New York Rangers
7:08pm EST

We pushed on the total of six in this matchup back on February 22md. The 5.5 line comes in at -165 here and we’re going to jump on it. The Devils are in a strange place as mentioned and I am very surprised to see the Devils line come in at 2.5. The books expect this to be a lower scoring but I don’t. Igor Shesterkin has had one game off since February 18th and is coming off a shutout against the Blues. Whether Igor starts or Jonathan Quick does, I expect the Devils to hit their 2.5 pre-game team total. The matchups between these two usually are lopsided victories for the winners with there only being one game in their last nine being decided by one goal. Jake Allen should get the start today and he’s 1-5 in seven starts against the Rangers. I see this game in a higher scoring back and forth game with both teams hitting the three goal mark. I’m going to lay the -165 on the 5.5 line here expecting both goalies to have mediocre games. I’m leaning off a side in this division rivalry that has gone equally between these two in the past fourteen matchups and the Devils coming back from a 2-0 deficit last year in a first round matchup with the Rangers.

Washington Capitals vs. Winnipeg Jets
7:38pm EST

This will be my biggest bet of the night. Winnipeg has lost six of the last seven matchups against the Capitals and the books are lowering the lines because of it. Tyler Toffoli should make his Jets debut into a completely healthy lineup. The Jets are coming off a bad shutout loss to the Canucks on Saturday and will have a prime matchup at home against a Washington team coming in on a two game win streak. This game should be a true mismatch and I’m laying the juice to get the team total at three. Washington is a bottom five scoring team in the league with a 2.69 goals per game. Connor Hellebuyck is the odds on favorite to win the Vezina. This lines up to be a prime matchup for Winnipeg (2.41 goals against per game) to completely shut down the Washington offense. Winnipeg should have no problem getting on the board in this game with one of the deepest depth charts in the league. The Jets are stacked from top to bottom and can be a legitimate Cup contender if their offense can get in rhythm.

New York Islanders vs. Los Angeles Kings
10:38pm EST

I have too much bias on the Isles to play them here. They are on a six game win streak and have climbed into the last wild card spot. They are on a Western Conference road trip and this is a game I prefer to lay off.

Official Plays:

  • 7:08pm New Jersey Devils / New York Rangers over 5.5 -165: 3u
  • 7:38pm Winnipeg Jets Team Total over 3 -165: 5u
