Sanaynay’s Week 9 Waiver Wire

Week 9 Waiver Wire

Note: Every suggestion will be pulled from either the Yahoo or ESPN rostership, and everyone in these articles will be less than 50% rostered on at least one of those sites. Only some leagues are cut and dry the same so this is just a template for a 12 team full PPR league. There may be players that would have made this article but are rostered in over 50% of the leagues on both sites so they were not included because you’re either in a smaller league or bigger league. If you have questions, please get in chat and ask. Going forward, I will list the bye week schedule below as it is going to become more important as we plan for that moving forward.

Week 5: DET, LAC, PHI, TEN

Week 6: KC, LAR, MIA, MIN

Week 7: CHI, DAL

Week 8: NONE

Week 9: PIT, SF

Week 10: CLE, GB, LV, SEA

Week 11: ARI, CAR, NYG, TB

Week 12: ATL, BUF, CIN, JAX, NO, NYJ

Week 13: NONE

Week 14: BAL, DEN, HOU, IND, NE, WAS

QB

Bo Nix (Denver Broncos) – 15%

Over his last four games Nix has averaged 21.93 fantasy points while throwing for seven scores and only 1 pick and pushing in two rushing TDs with multiple games of 60+ rushing yards. We’ll be on him again this week in terms of passing props as the Broncos take on the Ravens in Baltimore, a prime spot for the rookie QB.

Matthew Stafford (LA Rams) – 0%

I’m sure Stafford is the happiest man on earth now that the Rams are finally healthy on offense. In Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupps first games back Stafford dropped 279 yards (8.2 YPA) and four scores en route to a 24.8 point performance. The Rams visit the underwhelming Seahawks in Week 9 and with the atrocious defense the Rams are boasting, this is going to be a weekly necessity for Stafford to sling the rock like this.

Daniel Jones (New York Giants) – 0%

Its ugly but Jones still offers a decent floor with his rushing.

RB

Tyrone Tracy Jr. (New York Giants) – 70%

Tracy has straight up stolen the job from Devin Singletary, which is a big deal since Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll loves Singletary and trusts him. In Week 8 against the Steelers Tracy ran the ball 20 times for 145 yards and a score while still seeing the same amount of targets as singletary (3), catching two of them for two yards. You may be able to get a slight discount on Tracy because he is likely out in Week 9 due to a concussion he suffered late in the Giants loss to the Steelers but for the remainder of the season, it is wheels up for Tracy.

Braelon Allen (New York Jets) – 0%

This week is awful for the Waiver Wire for RBs after Tracy so we’re going to focus on the handcuffs to be honest. I wouldn’t spend anything on any of them because odds are at least one of these backs will be available in your league. Allen is at the top due to a mixture of his talent and volume he would receive if Breece Hall were to ever miss time while also having some FLEX appeal during Bye Weeks. He hasn’t done much with Todd Downing as the new OC up until this week when he saw a 33% snap share with 43% of the team’s rush attempts and a 17% route participation and 71% of the short down and distance snaps and half of the carries inside the 5 yard line. The Jets play the Texans in Week 9 and anytime the Jets are favored at home, Allen is a FLEX worthy start.

Emanuel Wilson (Green Bay Packers) – 0%

Same as above but slightly less workload on a weekly basis and you can only start him in very deep leagues.

Blake Corum (LA Rams) – 0%

Same as what I mentioned above with Braelon Allen and Wilson but no startability as long as Kyren Williams is healthy.

Top RB Handcuffs

  • Braelon Allen (New York Jets)
  • Zach Charbonnet (Seattle Seahawks)
  • Tyler Allgeier (Atlanta Falcons)
  • Blake Corum (LA Rams)
  • Emanuel Wilson (Green Bay Packers)
  • Ray Davis (Buffalo Bills)
  • Ty Chandler (Minnesota Vikings)
  • Kendre Miller (New Orleans Saints)
  • Roschon Johnson (Chicago Bears)
  • Dameon Pierce (Houston Texans)
  • Jalen Wright (Miami Dolphins)
  • Ezekiel Elliott (Dallas Cowboys)
  • Tyler Goodson (Indianapolis Colts)
  • Antonio Gibson (New England Patriots)
  • Trey Benson (Arizona Cardinals)

WR

Elijah Moore (Cleveland Browns) – 15%

While everyone is going to run and pick up Tillman, I prefer Elijah Moore. Moore actually led the Browns with 12 targets en route to a eight catch, 85 yard day. He had a 77% route participation so a few less routes than Jeudy or Tillman but had a generous 33% TPRR and was targeted closer to the line of scrimmage out of the slot with only a 9.2 ADOT while seeing 40% of the 3rd down targets. It was clear Winston targeted Moore early and often and he felt most comfortable with Moore as a security blanket.

Cedric Tillman (Cleveland Browns) – 10%

Swing and a miss for me this last week by not jumping in on Tillman but I needed to see more but, I saw it. Tillman emerged as the go-to perimeter WR for the Browns. He had a 93% route participation with a 24% target share to boot and 27% of the team’s play action targets and 50% of the end zone targets on his way to pulling seven of his nine targets for 99 yards and two scores. The Browns play the Chargers in Week 9.

Jalen Tolbert (Dallas Cowboys) – 3%

I’d be shocked if Mike McCarthy got fired in the middle of the season this year and that is great news for us because the Cowboys defense is still ass. The Cowboys travel to Atlanta in Week 9 which will be a game with a phenomenal scoring environment as I expect the Falcons to rip the Cowboys defense to shreds, forcing Dak to sling the ball around (successfully) in this one. The Falcons haven’t generated much of a pass rush this year so if Dak can sit back and pick apart the defense, he will and Tolbert will benefit. Since Brandin Cooks went down in Week 4, Tolbert has a 93% route participation with a 15% target share and a healthy 12.7 ADOT and 24% of the team’s air yards.

Xavier Legette (Carolina Panthers) – 0% (or Jalen Coker)

Diontae Johnson is on his way out of Carolina and that is going to leave these two WRs as the WR1 and WR2 of this team. I slightly prefer Legette just because of his draft capital and as of right now he is ahead of Coker on the pecking order but I really like what I’ve seen from Coker. In Week 8 against a very tough Broncos defense, Legette had a 63% route participation and a 27% TPRR and a nice 12.6 ADOT whereas Coker had a 80% route participation with a 18% TPRR and 16.7 ADOT. Legette finished with seven targets, catching four of them for 34 yards and Coker caught four of his six targets for 78 yards, including a garbage time score as time was coming to a close. The Panthers are likely to see a ton of garbage time as this season pushes forward and these two WRs are likely to grow into bigger roles, solidifying themselves as the top two teams on a garbage team as 2024 runs out.

TE

Will Dissly (LA Chargers) – 5%

Not many TEs in the NFL will see the volume that Dissly is seeing for the Chargers right now and there isn’t a reason to think it will change. Over the last three games Dissly has a 68% route participation, 28% TPRR, and a 25% Target Share with 44% of the play action targets. He has averaged 10.6 PPR PPG over this span with at least five targets and four receptions in each.

Hunter Henry (New England Patriots) – 5%

You’d prefer Drake Maye under center, and Maye will likely be back in Week 10, but it doesn’t matter even with Jacoby Brissett. In Week 8 when Maye missed most of the game, Henry still saw a healthy 21% target share on a 78% route participation. He caught five of his six targets for 45 yards, good for 9.5 PPR points. He has now averaged 13.27 PPR PPG over his last three games with a 78% route participation and 20% TPRR.

Noah Fant (Seattle Seahawks) – 3%

Fant continues to see a solid target share (13%) over his last three weeks. We won’t know the status of WR DK Metcalf by the time waivers run but if DKM misses again in Week 9, we see an organic bump for Fant from that alone. In Week 9, however, the Seahawks play the LA Rams at home, a defense that has been shredded through the air. Look for another solid floor from Fant in a decimated wasteland of a position.

DST

Philadelphia Eagles – 0%

Vic Fangio has the Eagles defense playing better as they held Joe Burrow and the Bengals in check in Week 8 (scored 6) and were able to dominate the Giants in Week 7 to the tune of 15 fantasy points.

Cincinnati Bengals – 0%

Since Week 4, every single DST to face the Raiders has scored 8 or more fantasy points with four of the five opponents scoring 11+ with an average of 12.6 PPG.

New Orleans Saints – 0%

Keep an eye on this one because it is only appealing if Bryce Young is starting. While the Panthers scored 14 in Denver, seven of them came off of a turnover at midfield and the other 7 came with 23 seconds left in a garbage time TD. The Saints played a bit better against the Chargers in Week 8 so I expect at least a competent and sound defensive effort from there here, which is all we need to get home against Bryce Young.
