Detroit vs Boston:

  • I told you before the season Boston would be a much better team to start the season due to the firing of Bruce Cassidy.
  • Boston has started the season going 6-1 overall with 30 goals scored on the season to lead the league.
  • Detroit started the season 2-0-2 without losing in regulation.
  • Detroit comes into Boston winning 2 of the past 3 matchups that I discredit due to the locker room turmoil imposed by Bruce Cassidy’s tenure towards the end.
  • Tonight’s game should be a fast paced offensive showing by Boston with Ville Husso expected to be in net. Detroit should be able to keep a slower but productive pace putting up 2-3 goals. I expect this to be a game where Boston may take the lead, give it back, take it again to give it back, but pull away late in the game.
  • Boston’s ML is in play tonight as a parlay piece but the over 5.5 is the more favorable play for me expecting Detroit to be able to contribute to the scoring.
  • Brad Marchand will be returning to the lineup for Boston tonight.

Montreal vs Buffalo:

  • Buffalo will be without Henri Jokiharju and Mattias Samuelsson while Montreal will be without 1st overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky.
  • Buffalo started the season 4-1 as one of the bigger surprises around the league putting up 3 or more goals in every game until Tuesday’s loss to Seattle.
  • Buffalo also put up two big wins over Edmonton and Calgary before losing to Seattle.
  • Buffalo did not look good in their loss to Seattle and with two injuries I feel are important to their early success, this will be a game I will be laying off.

Minnesota vs Ottawa:

  • I will continue to mention the struggles I expected of Marc-Andre Fleury before the season and his 18 goals over 3 ⅓ games to start the season.
  • Minnesota is still an offensively powered team putting up 3 goals or more in every game they’ve played this season. After an 0-3 start theyre 2-1 in their last 3 heading into a favorable matchup against Ottawa.
  • Minnesota should keep a fast paced flow to tonight’s game and I do believe they will be able to hold Ottawa down offensively. MAF should be able to provide a much better showing in net tonight as well. This is a game I expect Minnesota to win and put up multiple goals. I would expect this game to end in a 5-2 5-3 final score.

Florida vs Philly:

  • The Flyers weak early schedule is what allowed them to get out to a 4-1 start with their one loss being the same Florida Panthers team they face tonight.
  • Florida’s power play has been atrocious this year and has a success rate of only 6.1% on the year.
  • Carter Hart has had a tremendous start to the year going 3-0 with a 1.75 GAA but was not in net in the last matchup between these two.
  • With Florida’s power play struggling and Hart having such a hot start to the season I don’t expect this to be an easy test for Florida tonight. This is a game where I see it more as a low scoring game with Florida getting the win in a 3-2 type game. I would use Florida here more in a ML parlay with the Bruins but not heavily invested.

Blues vs Nashville:

  • St. Louis has dominated this matchup recently scoring 20 goals in the past 3 meetings last season.
  • With neither goalie confirmed right now I will be holding off on any play but with the total opening up at 6 and a line of 5.5 at -130 I will be looking at the over regardless of who is in net.
  • Nashville has been struggling lately after their return from Prague and have struggled to maintain any leads late in 2 of their last 3 games losing 5 in a row.
  • Tonight is a game the Preds need to come out and win especially with the Blues on a back to back losing to Edmonton last night.

Chicago vs Edmonton:

  • Alex Stalock has played way above par this season and is getting the start again tonight against a projected Jack Campbell.
  • With Edmonton on a back to back and Chicago winning 3 in a row this ML has been brought down to -225 for Edmonton. I project that line should be more in the -250 – -275 range so I will be capitalizing on the ML.
  • The game total comes in at 5.5 so while I want to have exposure to it I am concerned about Chicago’s ability to score tonight.
  • I will be looking at Edmonton TT 2.5 for parlays and will be playing 3.5 as well. Can very well see this as a 4-1 / 4-2 final in Edmonton’s favor.

Vancouver vs Seattle:

  • Over 5.5 -165
  • Over 5.5 -165
  • Over 5.5- 165
  • Did I mention over 5.5 -165?
