Flames vs Islanders:

  • When gambling on a game, it’s about finding the edges you’re most confident in. Being a smart gambler is waiting for those edges and exploiting them. A good analyst will be able to tell you what to look for in a matchup.
  • In recent years this has been an easy matchup for the Flames. On paper the Flames are a much more skilled team. The Islanders are deeper and better in net. In their past 7 matchups the Flames have won six of them scoring three goals or more. That wasn’t the same Flames team that we’ll be seeing tomorrow.
  • Jonathan Huberdeau has been struggling to start the season and only has one goal in 10 games. Huberdeau only has four assists on the year as well. It’s been a slow start for him, but the reality is the Islanders are the matchup to get him going. In three games last year Huberdeau scored 1G and 4A with Ilya Sorokin in net for all three. You should be able to count on Sorokin starting tomorrow.
  • The Flames are on a four game losing streak and again, the Isles are the type of team to get them right. The Isles are a team that can do the good things right and let the little and bad shit get in their way like ending a losing streak, giving up goals to players who are on cold streaks or are getting their firsts in the league.
  • The Isles do however, come in winning five of their last six. Their last loss against Detroit was questionably officiated. I am not expecting the Islanders to do much offensive tonight, two goals most likely, three max. I am looking at a 4-2 / 5-2 Flames win tonight.

St. Louis vs Boston:

  • The Blues are free falling right now and this is not a matchup that is going to do them any favors.
  • This is a SCF rematch from 2019 and these teams have only met three times since then with Boston winning two of them. This could be a game that gets very out of hand tonight.
  • Even at -200 for Boston I believe this line is very generous.
  • I expect Boston to put up a minimum of four goals tonight. St. Louis has looked lost handling the puck and Boston should be able to piece it together. These two aren’t too far out from their Cup matchup and Boston is going to want to make a statement knowing how bad they are playing.
  • I expect a very physical high scoring game between the two with Boston winning and the game going over.

Edmonton vs Washington:

  • Stuart Skinner is playing very well for Edmonton right now and much better than Jack Campbell. With Skinner getting the start tonight I expect Edmonton to come out in front.
  • As I mentioned in this week’s power rankings, Washington is just too decimated with injuries to count on right now offensively.
  • Washington and Ovechkin in name alone keep this line playable for Edmonton and I will be jumping on the Oilers side with Charlie Lindgren in net. I expect tonight to be a high scoring, one sided game in all three games.
