NHL Playoffs & MLB Plays 5/1

Dallas vs. Vegas:

  • We cashed our series bet here, and right now, we’ve only lost one series bet that wasn’t a long-shot payout (Tampa/Florida over 5.5). Adin Hill is getting the start for Vegas after Logan Thompson dropped the last two. Thompson gave up three goals in three of the four games and Adin Hill is expected to provide an upgrade and he’s won the two games he started against Dallas earlier in the regular-season. Overall Hill is 2-3-0 with a 2.59 GAA.
  • Dallas performed as I anticipated on the road. This team tends to excel when expectations are low, and they proved it by losing both home games they were favored to win and winning both games on the road in a 2-0 series hole. They head home and can take a 3-2 series lead but the lines are more expensive than I want to pay. Dallas does well of hitting lows and then coming out strong so I do expect them to win tonight, but I’m not willing to lay -160 with Hill’s recent performances against them or play the team total of 3. This is a situation where I would put Dallas in a parlay with some other games for a juicy payout.

Edmonton vs. Los Angeles:

  • The 1-0 final last game is an anomaly and not something we should expect to see again tonight. We have smashed the Oilers in the first three games with 3u and 5u plays so we have room to play with in this series. I didn’t give L.A. much of a chance in this series and they have a ton of history playing each other in three straight playoffs. The ML and Team Total are both -190 so which way we choose to go could have different consequences. For one, Dallas ML should be parlayed with Edmonton ML and what I do here is parlay those two with a baseball game or two. Separately, I’m willing to play both sides of this game. Edmonton only put up 13 shots last game so don’t expect a similar performance from David Rittich. Rittich does have good numbers in his career against the Oilers with three different teams during the regular season (5-5-1 2.73 GAA), FYI.
  • There was a lot of pressure on Stuart Skinner heading on the road. He gave up nine goals in two games before locking down and limiting the Kings to one goal over the last two. L.A should get on the board in Edmonton and being an elimination game I’m going to play both sides of the over.
    • Edmonton Team Total over 3 -190: 2u
    • Edmonton/LA over 5.5 -145: 3u

Yankees vs. Orioles:

  • I’m riding Burnes against the Yankees on the road. They’ve won 6 of the last 7 against the Yankees and I like the team total of 3.5.  I’m going to play this a few different ways and will list them all below.

Texas vs. Washington:

  • We got burned by the Nats against the Rangers twice last season in Washington. This game is trappy total wise but I like Texas to win outright. Even if Trevor Williams pitches well in the first half of the game I expect the Rangers to break it open or comeback against the bullpen.

Today’s Plays:

  • Round Robin:
    • Texas Rangers ML
    • Baltimore Orioles ML
    • Dallas Stars ML
    • Edmonton Oilers ML
    • 2.5 to win 8.835
  • Edmonton Oilers Team Total over 3 -190: 2u
  • Edmonton/LA over 5.5 -145: 3u
  • Alt-Line Parlay: -103
    • Orioles Team Total over 2.5
    • Texas Rangers Team Total over 1.5
    • Astros Team Total over 2.5
    • Kings/Oilers over 3.5
