Thursday Night Breakdown & Wednesday Recap

Good afternoon everyone. Few things I’d like to go over. Tech and I are working on some bots that will update chat anytime I post a new article or add bets to the bets page. I know you all hate the idea of having to use the website, but for me, the business, and growth of Gameflows, the website is going to be an important piece. Last night was very frustrating. If you read the article, the analysis of each game was great. What was not great was not playing the three games I recommended playing, and me playing the two that lost. We endured a 4.7u loss on the night overall if you strictly played the posted plays. It was disappointing to see Buffalo pitch a shutout, and were only able to post one goal on a 5 minute major power play in the late part of the third. Chicago not pulling in the final minutes was frustrating as well, especially with a power play with three minutes left. The logic of not making it a 6 on 4, down three goals on a power play does not make sense and I’d love to hear that question being answered. Dallas was abysmal. They had four shots midway through the second and scored their lone goal off a turnover. Dallas did not show up and did not belong in that game. Of the games I didn’t play, Ottawa thrashed Montreal making that over an easy win. My gut was right with Tampa Bay with the team total of three being an absolute smash spot and they had their three goals 3:20 into the second period. They put up four more after that to win 7-3. The Capitals and Blues showed up as well, cashing that over 5.5 4:01 into the third. Nights like these are frustrating when the reads are right but the execution of the posted plays are not. I’m going to turn comments on these articles going forward and see how that works for everyone. Let’s dive into tonight’s slate:

Detroit vs. Carolina:

Carolina has been one of the more disappointing teams for me this year. We lost Frederik Andersen for the year due to blood clotting, and Annti Raanta has been horrible for the ‘Canes. Carolina is 12-10-1 on the road and are 8-8-2 against the West. Carolina has played their best at home and against the Atlantic division where they are and 12-4-4 and  8-3. Detroit is coming off their 3-2 win against Florida on Wednesday and come in winning six of seven. Carolina has not played Detroit well enough of late for me to target this game. Carolina comes in as a -210 favorite with their team total at 3.5. Carolina has scored four or more goals only three times in the past ten meetings between these two teams. Alex Lyon has been playing very well for Detroit so I do not feel this game has enough value for us. I do believe Carolina wins, but as stated in previous articles, I am not someone who prefers parlaying two teams together to get even money and that’s what we would need to do to get on Carolina’s money line. This is a game where looking at an empty net situation could be the play if Carolina has a two goal lead late in the third.

New Jersey vs. Columbus:

These two teams have played high scoring games this year and it’s juicing the total to 6.5 -130. Nico Dawes is expected to start tonight which should help the over. New Jersey has lost four of five and I find value in Columbus tonight. I personally won’t be playing this game but if Dawes gets the start for the Devils tonight that I like Columbus team total since it is available at 2.5.

Minnesota vs. Florida:

No thank you. At all. The over was a target up until the last two meetings between these two teams. If you want to play Florida to rebound after losing to Minnesota, I don’t hate it, but like Wednesday night, I just don’t trust Florida enough to know which version of them we will get. They’re -190 favorites, and their team total of three is the same price.

New York Islanders vs. Chicago Blackhawks:

As much as I hate playing the Islanders, I believe this is the best position on the board tonight. The Isles have been struggling offensively lately and are coming off a bad loss to the Winnipeg Jets. Tonight is a matchup the Isles need to take full advantage of and rebound in. The Isles have lost seven of nine with seven of those nine matchups being on the road. The Isles wrap up this road trip in Chicago before going home with two very tough matchups against Dallas and Vegas. The Isles need this win tonight and I will be banking on them to dominate. If you wanted to parlay the Isles with Carolina as well, this would be the parlay I would play. Adding Florida to it to make it +200 is risky but not a terrible play on a slate like tonight. If you can play live, I would look to grab the Isles team total of 3 around -160.
