Wednesday Night Breakdown & Tuesday Recap

Good morning. I hope everyone had a good day yesterday and the article helped. Last nights expectations were spot on outside of Ilya Sorokin getting the start for the Isles. We managed to push the Jets team total of 4 even with him in net. The Rangers game and Avs went exactly as projected making me disappointed I didn’t play the 5-2 final knowing the game was likely to end 3-1 or 4-2. With Final scores, I usually like to take the top two scores I expect it to be, and play the one goal up to factor in the empty net. Washington and Chicago were the right fades, and Dallas really poured it on in the third against the Kings. The Flames disappointed. We salvaged the push on the OT winner, and thinking that game was the trap of the night was correct but we survived it. Going back to what I was discussing in yesterday’s article about playing NFL and MLB, there are certain days of the week that I prefer not to play each sport. Thursday Night Football is a fade for me. Sunday baseball is usually a fade for me. For NHL, Wednesday nights and Sunday’s are typically the days I play light or take off. Wednesday nights are billed as “Wednesday Night Rivalry” and only have an average of three games. Tonight we have three matchups and only one of them will be a game I play. Every sport will have variance days and Wednesdays are usually the days that have much tighter, division rivalry matchups, and the edges are less profitable.

Detroit vs. Florida:

Florida has won 20 of the last 22 meetings between these two teams and each win has been pretty dominant. Detroit has managed to score three goals in only three of those twenty two matchups. Florida comes into this game as a -225 favorite with an over under of 6.5. Frankly, I don’t trust either team. Florida has dropped their last two after winning nine in a row and have been one of the more inconsistent teams to track and play. Detroit has been no better in terms of consistency. They have been hot again winning five of their last six after losing nine of eleven. If you personally want to play for the over and hope this is a shootout, feel free to go for it. I won’t be.

Montreal vs. New Jersey:

The last time these two met New Jersey won 5-2. Like the Florida over, the Devils are another chalk play. Jack Hughes and Ondrej Palat are banged up and will either miss tonight, or be game time decisions. With another -200 money line on NJ and the team total being 3.5 for a severely banged up team, I am perfectly fine fading here as well. The last thing we wantt to do is give up any momentum we put together after last night. Our only losses last night came on very high + money ladders for team totals where we pushed the main play. My goal tonight is to pick one play, play two units on it, add it to the bankroll, and head into tomorrow’s 10 game slate with some money in the bank. The Devils don’t hold enough of an edge for me to use them in a parlay with Florida or hope their banged up offense puts up four goals.

Chicago vs. Buffalo:

This is the last game on the slate tonight and the game I will be taking my stab on. This may the biggest chalk game on the slate with Buffalo going up against a depleted Chicago team, but Buffalo is the most healthy so this game will come down to pure execution. Buffalo is the most volatile team and the biggest trap of the night, but I think they get it done. Chicago has been playing tight games of late and losing low scoring games. Connor Bedard is out for a few weeks, and Taylor Hall is out for the year. Chicago is in bad shape and they have lost eight of their last ten. I’m expecting Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson to lead the way tonight and help Buffalo get their four goals giving us a two unit win on the night.
