Tuesday 2/6 Betting Notes
  • Calgary vs. Boston:
    • Boston has won five of the last seven.
    • First meeting between these two this season.
    • Calgary just traded Elias Lindholm to Vancouver.
      • Lindholm is as great piece for Vancouver to add and has 40 goal potential. This is a big loss for Calgary. This team has not been the same since losing Gaudreau and Tkachuk. Huberdeau and Kadri have not produced for the Flames and the rest of the team is suffering.
    • Calgary lost four of five before the All-Star Break. Boston won seven of eight.
    • Linus Ullmark should start tonight giving Jeremy Swayman a break after the All-Star game.
    • Boston should win. -190 is too high for me to lay on them in this matchup.
    • I expect this game to be able to hit the 5.5 total in a 4-2 range type game. When I say “range,’ I expect to see a 1 goal difference. This game should be 4-2, but would not be surprised to see a 4-1, 3-1 type final. I am not buying into Calgary’s ability to score and worry this could end with Boston on only three goals.

    Dallas vs. Buffalo:

    • Dallas put up 10 goals on the Sabres in their final meeting last season and have won seven of the last ten.
    • These lines are a steal for Dallas in this matchup. Dallas should be -200 with a team total of 3.5.
    • Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is having a very good year with a 2.61 GAA and Buffalo is only giving up 3.14 goals per game as a whole.
    • The books aren’t factoring the significant difference in level between these two teams and I don’t know why other than Luukkonen being in net.
    • I expect this to be a game Dallas dominates Buffalo. They should win putting up a minimum of three goals so I will be playing this both ways. The goaltending matchup favors Dallas, scoring favors Dallas, special teams also favors Dallas.

    Vancouver vs. Carolina:

    • I do not want to touch this game. Vancouver had five participants in the All-Star game in addition to newly acquired Elias Lindholm being there.
    • Carolina is not a team I play against.
    • This is a great matchup but could be affected by fatigue from Vancouver. I think Carolina wins but Vancouver is a contending team.

    Philadelphia vs. Florida:

    • Carter Hart has some serious legal issues going on right now in connection with the WJC accusations.
    • Sam Ersson has played well going 12-9-3 with a 2.6 GAA.
    • Owen Tippett is also out for the Flyers. Tippet was activated earlier today.
    • Florida is a -210 favorite with a 3.5 team total.
    • This is a game where lines are maxed out and there’s no value for Florida.
    • Philadelphia on the ML could hold some value.

We are in a hole right now, we all know that. Getting right means being selective, getting hot, and hitting consistently. I can sit here and break down the rest of the slate and give analysis but I feel it will be a waste of time. We are coming off the All-Star break where teams will see fatigue and variance in results. Last night we targeted John Tavares against his former team and we cashed the point and the goal if you played. I don’t blame you if you didn’t play. We learned the All-Star game MVP was determined before the games even started and it was an infuriating display. I took a long break after those games seeing how they played out and am almost glad it played out the way it did. I felt the All-Star game surmised just how this season has gone. Hitting Tavares was a nice little rebound momentum wise heading into today. I’m sticking to two – money plays and one + money play and sticking to one game

    Official Plays:

    • Dallas ML -155: 2u
    • Dallas -1.5 +155: 1u
